Detailed Description:

Abamectin-aminomethly 8% SL is a potent insecticide formulated to provide rapid and effective control of various agricultural pests. Its active ingredient, emamectin benzoate (equivalent 9.1%), is a semi-synthetic derivative of abamectin, produced through the fermentation of the soil bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis. This compound functions by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels in the nervous system of insects, leading to increased chloride ion permeability, hyperpolarization of nerve cells, and subsequent paralysis and death of the pest. Emamectin benzoate exhibits translaminar activity,  penetrating leaf tissues to form a reservoir within the leaf, thus enhancing its efficacy against target pests. This dual action—contact and stomach toxicity—ensures comprehensive pest management. Additionally, emamectin benzoate is known for its low environmental persistence, making it a favorable choice for integrated pest management programs.

Effective Against:

  • Thrips (Thripidae): Small insects that feed on plant sap, causing silvering, scarring, and reduced growth in crops.

  • Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella): A significant pest in cruciferous vegetables, whose larvae feed on leaves, leading to substantial crop damage.

  • Leafminers (Liriomyza spp.): Larvae that create mines  within leaves, disrupting photosynthesis and reducing crop yields.

  • Armyworms (Spodoptera spp.): Caterpillars that consume  large amounts of foliage, leading to defoliation and potential crop loss.

2.      Application Technique: Ensure even and thorough coverage of the plants by spraying uniformly.

3.      Pre-Harvest Interval: Observe a safety interval of 5 days between application and harvest to ensure crop safety.

4.      Usage Frequency: Limit to one application per growing season to prevent potential resistance development.
