Profenofos 6% + Phoxim 19% EC is a synergistic organophosphate insecticide blend designed to combat the rice leafroller (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis), a prevalent pest in rice cultivation. Profenofos functions by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE), leading to the accumulation of acetylcholine at nerve synapses, which results in continuous nerve impulse transmission, causing paralysis and death of the insect. Phoxim shares a similar mode of action, enhancing the formulation's overall potency. This combination ensures rapid knockdown and extends residual activity, effectively reducing pest populations and minimizing crop damage. The formulation exhibits both contact and stomach toxicity, making it versatile against various developmental stages of the pest. For optimal results, application during the early larval stages is recommended, as this is when the pests are most vulnerable.
