Descriptions

ICAMA Reg. No.: PD20094141

Product Category:  Insecticides

A potent combination blending cypermethrin and dichlorvos, delivering rapid and effective control of caterpillars and other agricultural pests.

Key Features:

1.      Dual Mode of Action: Combines the neurotoxic effects of cypermethrin and dichlorvos for enhanced pest mortality.

2.      Broad-Spectrum Control: Effective against various pests, including lepidopteran larvae and sap-feeding insects.

3.      Rapid Knockdown: Provides swift pest immobilization, minimizing crop damage.

Detailed Description:

This product integrates 3% cypermethrin and 42% dichlorvos, two active ingredients with complementary modes of action. Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that targets the nervous system of insects. It prolongs the opening of voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells, leading to continuous nerve excitation, paralysis, and eventual death of the pest. This action disrupts normal nerve signal transmission, effectively controlling a wide range of insect pests. Dichlorvos, an organophosphate insecticide, inhibits acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme essential for terminating nerve impulses. Inhibition of this enzyme results in the accumulation of acetylcholine at nerve synapses, causing continuous nerve stimulation, paralysis, and death of the insect. Dichlorvos exhibits contact, stomach, and fumigant activity, enhancing its effectiveness against various pests. The combination of these two active ingredients provides a robust defense against pests, reducing the likelihood of resistance development and ensuring comprehensive crop protection.

Effective Against:

·         Cabbage Caterpillar (Pieris rapae): Larvae feed on cabbage leaves, causing significant defoliation and yield loss.

·         Aphids (Aphididae): Sap-sucking insects that transmit plant viruses and cause stunted growth.

·         Thrips (Thripidae): Feed on plant tissues, leading to scarring, deformation, and transmission of diseases.

·         Whiteflies (Aleyrodidae): Extract plant sap, excrete honeydew leading to sooty mold growth, and transmit viral diseases.

Technical Application Requirements:

1.      Timing: Apply during the peak hatching period of cabbage caterpillar eggs or early larval stages for optimal control.

2.      Mixing: Dilute the specified amount of product in water to achieve uniform coverage.

3.      Application Technique: Ensure thorough and even coverage of all plant parts, including the undersides of leaves where pests may reside.

4.      Environmental Conditions: Avoid application during windy conditions or if rainfall is expected within one hour to prevent runoff and ensure maximum efficacy.

5.      Pre-Harvest Interval: Observe the recommended safety interval between the last application and harvest as specified on the product label to comply with residue regulations.

6.      Usage Frequency: Limit the number of applications per growing season as per label instructions to minimize the risk of resistance development and potential phytotoxicity.
