Detailed Description:

This EC formulation contains 40% phoxim, an organophosphate insecticide known for its effectiveness against a wide range of pests. Phoxim functions by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an essential enzyme in the nervous system of insects. Inhibition of AChE leads to the accumulation of acetylcholine at synapses, causing continuous nerve impulse transmission, resulting in paralysis and death of the pest. This mode of action disrupts normal neural function, providing effective control of target pests. The formulation includes penetration enhancers, such as azone, to improve cuticular penetration, enhancing the insecticide's efficacy.

Effective Against:

·         Cotton Aphid (Aphis gossypii): Sap-sucking insects that cause leaf curling, stunted growth, and transmit plant viruses.

·         Rice Weevil (Sitophilus oryzae): A primary pest of stored grains, causing significant post-harvest losses.

·         Red Flour Beetle (Tribolium castaneum): Infests stored grain products, leading to contamination and quality degradation.

Registered Scope and Method of Use

Technical Application Requirements:

1.      Timing: Apply during the peak infestation period of aphids for optimal control.

2.      Mixing: Dilute the specified amount of product in water to achieve uniform coverage.

3.      Application Technique: Ensure thorough and even coverage of all plant parts, including the undersides of leaves where aphids commonly reside.

4.      Environmental Conditions: Avoid application during windy conditions or if rainfall is expected within one hour to prevent runoff and ensure maximum efficacy.

5.      Pre-Harvest Interval: Observe the recommended safety interval between the last application and harvest as specified on the product label to comply with residue regulations.

6.      Usage Frequency: Limit the number of applications per growing season as per label instructions to minimize the risk of resistance development and potential phytotoxicity.
